M13: Professional Practice System
Professional Practice System
Objective: Build a structured weekly practice schedule covering technical practice, cue-ball practice, pattern practice, break practice, tactical practice, match simulation, video analysis and recovery.
Why it matters: Unstructured practice produces uneven improvement; a professional practice system ensures every performance area is trained deliberately and recovery is built in rather than an afterthought.
Watch: [Video placeholder] A walkthrough of a sample weekly practice schedule balancing all eight practice categories.
Learn: Design a weekly schedule that allocates time to each of the eight categories in proportion to current priorities identified from your performance audit and analysis work. Include recovery as a scheduled component, not something that happens only when time allows.
See it: [Image placeholder] A sample weekly practice schedule template with time blocks for each category.
Practise: Build your own weekly practice schedule for the next four weeks, allocating time based on your current weakest audit categories, and follow it.
Test yourself: 1) Why should recovery be scheduled rather than left to chance? 2) How should your weekly schedule change in the two weeks before a major tournament? 3) What is the risk of a practice schedule that only ever includes technical practice?
Challenge: Follow a structured four-week practice schedule and re-run your Module 1 performance audit at the end to measure change.
Common mistakes: Practising only what you enjoy or are already good at; never revisiting the schedule as priorities shift; omitting match simulation and video analysis in favour of pure technical repetition.
Coaching cue: "A schedule is a promise to your weakest category."
Completion criteria: A written four-week practice schedule followed in full, with a before/after audit comparison.
