Stance & Grip
Building a Repeatable Stance
Objective: Find a stable, balanced stance that can be repeated shot after shot.
Why it matters: There's no single 'correct' stance for every body — but there is a correct standard: stable, aligned to the shot line, repeatable, and free enough to let the arm swing.
Watch: Video showing 3 valid stance variations and what they have in common.
Learn: Guide: foot placement, weight distribution, head position over the cue.
See it: Diagram: stance from front and side with alignment lines.
Practise: Mirror drill: set up on an imaginary shot line 15 times, checking alignment each time.
Test yourself: n/a
Challenge: Have someone check your head position is consistently over the cue across 10 setups.
Common mistakes: Standing too upright (loses the sightline down the cue); locking the back leg rigidly.
Coaching cue: Stable enough to lean on, loose enough to swing.
Completion criteria: Coach or partner confirms stance is stable and repeatable across 10 setups.
