Plants & Difficult Shots

Plants (Combinations)

Objective: Recognise and execute a plant when the geometry supports it, and know when not to attempt one.

Why it matters: Plants can win frames outright, but a poorly judged one gives the opponent an easy table — judgement matters as much as execution.

Watch: Video on identifying plant contact points and reading whether one is 'on.'

Learn: Guide explaining plant geometry and risk assessment.

See it: Diagram of plant contact-point alignment.

Practise: Set up 10 plant scenarios of varying difficulty and attempt each.

Test yourself: Quiz: identify which of 5 diagrammed setups is a genuine plant.

Challenge: Successfully execute 3 plants across a session.

Common mistakes: Attempting a plant that 'looks close' without checking the contact-point geometry.

Coaching cue: If you have to hope, it's not on.

Completion criteria: Correctly identifies genuine plants in 4/5 quiz cases and pots 3+ in session.
