M12: Intermediate Assessment

Intermediate Assessment

Objective: Demonstrate the full range of intermediate skills - advanced potting, cue-ball control, position, pattern play, break development, tactical pool, match strategy and pressure play - in a single structured assessment.

Why it matters: Skills learned module-by-module only prove their worth when combined under realistic conditions; this assessment is the checkpoint before moving to advanced-level training.

Watch: [Video placeholder] A full assessment walkthrough showing how each module's skills are tested together in one session.

Learn: The assessment draws one test from each of the preceding modules: a potting test, a cue-ball control test, a position test, a full-rack clearance planned backwards, a logged break test, a tactical safety scenario, a scored match-strategy frame, and a pressure closing sequence. Treat it as a single connected session, not eight separate drills - the aim is to show the skills hold up in sequence, with fatigue and pressure building as you go.

See it: [Image placeholder] A one-page assessment scorecard listing each of the eight test elements with a pass/fail or scored column.

Practise: Run through the full eight-part assessment once under low-pressure conditions to identify weak points, then address those specific weak points for a week before attempting it for record.

Test yourself: 1) What are the eight elements combined in the Intermediate Assessment? 2) Why is it important to run the assessment as one session rather than as separate drills? 3) What should you do if you identify a weak point on a first attempt?

Challenge: Pass the full Intermediate Assessment for record, meeting the completion threshold on at least six of the eight elements in a single sitting.

Common mistakes: Treating the assessment as a set of disconnected drills; skipping the weak-point review after a practice run; rushing through elements late in the session as fatigue sets in.

Coaching cue: "Show me everything you've learned, in one sitting, under real conditions."

Completion criteria: Complete all eight elements of the Intermediate Assessment in a single session, meeting the pass threshold on at least six of the eight, to qualify for progression to the Advanced Player programme.
